Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

Home > Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a modern form of traditional Ashiatsu massage. An Ashiatsu Bar therapist uses bars overhead in order to stabilize themselves and control the amount of foot pressure applied to a patient. While the patient is lying on a firm mat on the floor, the practitioner will use bare feet to apply a steady pressure and long smooth strokes. The intention of Ashiatsu Bar Therapy is to relax the major muscles and to stimulate the lymphatic system using the varying pressure of the practitioner’s body weight.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a fairly recent introduction in western massage modalities, and has been registered as a trademarked practice. Ruthie Piper Hardee launched Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy in 1998 and is active in training therapists in this modality.
