Home > Aston Patterning

Aston Patterning is a form of therapy that combines ergonomic function with fitness training, body work and movement coaching. Aston Patterning embraces a philosophy that the human body is asymmetrical in its form and that each body’s physicality is unique. This therapy employs four basic elements; a health history review and daily movement analysis, a routine designed to improve movement patterns, massage and myofascial release, and finally post-testing of the results of treatment. Aston Patterning is helpful for those seeking relief from acute pain, or for individuals wishing to improve the efficiency of their movement patterns.

Aston Patterning was developed in the late 1970’s by Judith Aston, who has trademarked the technique. As a former dancer, she recognized that the human body was not the linear and symmetrical structure often presumed and developed her therapy to treat each body as the individual and unique structure she believed it to be.
