Ayurvedic
Ayurvedic medicine is the ancient health practice of the Indian sub-continent. Ayurveda itself means the “science of life” in the Sanskrit language. Ayurvedic massage uses herb-infused oils and a vigorous technique of rubbing the body, intended to stimulate the natural organ functions of the body. Special attention is often paid to the digestive system in Ayurvedic massage. The abdominal area is a major focus, with the intention to stimulate proper digestion and elimination of toxins.
Ayurvedic massage is sometimes referred to as a hard body massage, with practitioners using hands, feet, elbows and forearms to apply pressure. Ayurvedic massage has at its center, the three vital principles known as Doshas (vata, pitta and kapha), which regulate and control the biological functions of the body.
