Champissage

Home > Champissage

Champissage is a form of massage that focuses on the head, face and neck. Champissage is derived from the traditions of Ayurvedic medicine and is used in the Hindu culture as a medical treatment and form of daily maintenance and well-being. Champissage is a relaxation technique, but also has valid therapeutic properties, as it both improves blood flow to the head and reduces stress carried in the head and neck.

Champissage was brought to the west in the 1970s by Narenda Mehta, who had studied Ayurveda in India. Mehta modified Champissage slightly to appeal to western tastes and ideas. Champissage is often used in spas as a relaxation treatment and in hair salons as a special treat for clients.
