Maya Abdominal Massage
Maya Abdominal Massage is an external and non-invasive massage treatment designed to reposition internal organs that have shifted, restricting the body’s natural flow and energy. Primarily focused on the abdominal and pelvic regions, a Maya Abdominal Massage therapist uses hands and fingertips to massage, align and adjust the internal organs to their natural position. Maya Abdominal Massage is also used extensively as a treatment for fertility issues, as the uterus and fallopian tubes can often be misaligned or blocked, restricting blood flow and causing reproductive problems. The placement of the uterus is a primary focus of Maya Abdominal Massage, as the Mayan belief was that the uterus was a woman’s center, and controlled her internal health.
Although the Maya Abdominal Massage techniques are ancient in their traditions, the modern practice was developed by Dr, Rosita Arvigo, who studied under Don Elijio Panti, a Mayan shaman in Belize. Dr. Arvigo believes in a holistic approach to healthcare, which includes a focus on massage, physiology, herbology, nutrition, emotional and spiritual healing.
