Medical Massage
Medical Massage is a type of massage that is intended to enhance the process of healing by using appropriate hands-on techniques to supplement treatment by a physician. Medical Massage is primarily solution focused and is designed to solve a particular ailment or infirmity in the body. While Medical Massage techniques are similar to relaxation massage, the intention is more on a result, rather than delivering a soothing, meditative or experiential type of massage. Recipients of this type of massage are typically referred to as patients, rather than clients.
Another consideration of Medical Massage delivery is that many people who are there to receive it are not voluntary recipients, but rather attending under doctor’s orders. While not common, some patients may therefore be resistant to receiving massage therapy. (See also Medical - Clinical Massage)
