Movement Therapy

Home > Movement Therapy

Movement Therapy can take many forms including rehabilitative, expression/communication therapy and an effective therapy for those with special needs. Movement Therapy often incorporates dance into the practice and can be a helpful tool in body awareness and acceptance. Movement Therapy is also used for those who have lost some ability of movement or who have problems with motor control. It has been shown to be effective in treating autism, especially when used with music and dance as a part of the therapy.

Movement Therapy can also help with emotional and psychological issues in a therapy setting, allowing a patient to express and act out something that may be too painful for words. This type of therapeutic use of movement and dance has been the focus of many studies and has been documented as an effective treatment.
