Neuro-muscular Therapy
Neuro-muscular Therapy incorporates kinesiology and bio-mechanics in a specialized form of manual therapy. A Neuro-muscular Therapist manipulates the soft tissues of the body, muscle, tendons and fascia, to provide deep muscle relaxation and relief from pain. By definition, Neuro-muscular Therapy is the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial points, with the intention of relieving pain.
Neuro-muscular Therapy addresses the five main elements that cause pain. First, a lack of proper blood supply to the body’s soft tissues. Second, highly irritated points in muscles, which transfer pain to other areas of the body. Third, pressure of compression of a nerve by tissue, cartilage or bone. Fourth, postural distortion or imbalance of the muscular system. Fifth, an imbalance of the musculoskeletal system, resulting in biomechanical dysfunction.
