Ortho-bionomy
Ortho-bionomy is a form of gentle and therapeutic body alignment. An Ortho-bionomy therapist uses gentle movements and guided positioning of the body to facilitate changes to the stress and pain patterns we form. Much care is given to the comfort of the recipient and no forceful stretches or manipulations are ever done. Ortho-bionomy is effective in reducing pain and stress, by reducing muscle tension and increasing flexibility in the joints and soft tissues.
Ortho-bionomy was created in the 1970s by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, a British osteopath, who was seeking a way to work with the body which honored the body’s natural wisdom. He used exaggerated patterns of the body’s preferred postures to stretch and align naturally.
