Push Therapy
Push Therapy is a type of pain relief therapy designed to treat acute pain and chronic muscle tension. Push Therapy is not traditional massage, but rather a specialized muscle treatment that lengthens the muscles at their resting state and increases blood flow to them. The name Push actually stands for Pressure Under Soft Hands. A large part of Push Therapy involves education and making sure the client is taught about the function of their muscles and is shown self-treatment techniques.
Push Therapy was developed by Michael Takatsuno in the late 1990s as a way to help people experiencing chronic pain. Takatsuno, a body worker and Zen student used his background in anatomy and physiology to look at the body differently and understand the simple logic of the muscular structure.
