Qigong
Qigong is a form of Chinese health practice that combines slow, graceful movements with mental concentration and breathing to achieve balance in the body’s Qi (Chi), or life-energy. Qigong has its origins in ancient Chinese medicine, more than 5000 years ago. Qigong exercises are traditionally practiced standing up and with movement, however they can be adapted to sitting, lying down or standing still. Qigong practitioners use the exercises to improve their circulation, balance, heart rate and blood pressure and to experience a meditative and spiritual state.
There are literally thousands of forms, postures and exercises in Qigong practice, and one can spend years studying them. Most Qigong practitioners and students form a routine and use this as a part of their daily exercise regimen.
