Brain Gym in Arlington, Arizona
Brain Gym uses movement, exercises and activities designed to improve the mental function, balance and well-being of its participants. The mission of Brain Gym International, a non-profit organization, is to support ease of living and learning through safe, simple and effective movement. Brain Gym uses a series of 26 movements, designed to recall the movements done naturally during the first years of life. The movements emulate the learning process of coordinating the eyes, ears, hands and body, with the intention of opening up the pathways that our brain uses to learn.
Brain Gym was created in 1987, under the name of The Educational Kinesiology Foundation. It was founded by the educator and reading specialist, Paul E. Dennison and his wife and colleague Gail Dennison. Their work is based on the interdependence of movement, cognition and applied learning.
